She studied Advertising (Universidad del Salvador, 1986) and Photography (Escuela Argentina de Fotografía, 1996) in Buenos Aires, where she made her first works in artistic and editorial photography. There, she began to exhibit and be published in magazines such as El Jardín de Argentina and Elle. In 2001, she moved to Miami. She continued her training by attending courses and workshops in the United States and Argentina. She has participated in exhibitions in Buenos Aires, Boston, Miami, Orlando, and New York. Her work has received numerous awards, including the honorable mention obtained in 2020 in L.A. Photo Curator: Global Photography Awards. She currently lives in Miami.
Claudia Cebrian’s photography settles on the edge of the oneiric sphere. Avoiding the surrealist radicalism but maintaining the force of the enigma, Cebrian creates images where nature and the feminine world converge in mysterious relationships. Psychological experiences as a woman and an immigrant shape a good part of her work. However, this is not entirely autobiographical since her narratives recreate stories shared by a community. Water, a constant in her photos, acquires a symbolic character. It can allude to the unfailing current of life, to the amniotic sac —which provides interior nutrition and shelter—, or to the purity of nature, among other possible associations. The images in her Oasis series can be studied in relation to the “Ophelia complex” described by Bachelard. The similarities between these and Ophelia, the famous painting by John Everett Millais (1851-52), are remarkable. In them, melancholic water surrounds the palpable tensions between life, youth, love, and confrontations with death. The virgin water sacralizes the natural cycles of fertility and mortality.

Estudió Publicidad (Universidad del Salvador, 1986) y Fotografía (Escuela Argentina de Fotografía, 1996) en Buenos Aires, donde desarrolló sus primeros trabajos de fotografía artística y editorial. Allí también comenzó a exponer y a ser publicada en revistas como El jardín de Argentina y Elle. En 2001 fija su residencia en Miami. Continúa su formación asistiendo a cursos y talleres en los Estados Unidos y Argentina. Ha participado en exhibiciones en Buenos Aires, Boston, Miami, Orlando y Nueva York. Su trabajo ha recibido varios reconocimientos entre los que destaca la mención honorífica obtenida en 2020 en L.A. Photo Curator: Global Photography Awards. Actualmente vive en Miami.
La fotografía de Claudia Cebrian se instala al borde de lo onírico. Eludiendo la radicalidad surrealista, pero sosteniendo la fuerza de lo enigmático, Cebrian crea imágenes donde la naturaleza y lo femenino convergen en misteriosas relaciones. Las experiencias psicológicas como mujer e inmigrante detonan buena parte de su obra. Sin embargo, ésta no es del todo autobiográfica, ya que sus narrativas recrean historias compartidas por un colectivo. El agua, una constante en sus fotos, adquiere en éstas un carácter simbólico. Puede aludir a la indefectible corriente de la vida, al saco amniótico arquetipal ―que provee de nutrición y cobijo interiores―, o a la pureza de la naturaleza, entre otras asociaciones posibles. Las imágenes de su serie Oasis pueden ser entrevistas a la luz del «complejo de Ofelia» descrito por Bachelard. Son notables las similitudes que existen entre éstas y Ofelia, el famoso cuadro realizado por John Everett Millais (1851- 52). En ellas se percibe el agua melancólica circundando las tensiones entre vida, juventud y amor, confrontadas con la muerte. Es el agua virgen que sacraliza los ciclos naturales de fecundidad y perecimiento.
